River Valley Dawn

This piece for intermediate string orchestra was commissioned by Paul Taylor on behalf of the St Albans String Festival, and The Kings School. The first performance of this piece was in the beautiful, historic town of St Albans. Looking on the map as to where this location was, I noticed it wasn’t far from the Hawkesbury River, where I spent a lot of my childhood school holidays. This highly textural piece paints a sparkling Hawkesbury river, held together by the spidery roots of mangroves, under an apricot skyline.
